What did your experience entail?
We were given an Afternoon Tea menu where we could choose one sandwich filling described as “chunky” finger sandwiches in white or wholemeal brown from 8 choices which included meat and non meat varieties. A choice of scone, cheese or fruit, and a choice of cake from 7 different varieties. Beverages included English breakfast tea, fruit or mint teas, or a cafetiere of coffee (refills included) with the option to upgrade to include prosecco. As we had the Deluxe voucher we were also given a small bottle of prosecco each with a glass. After choosing our options we were presented with a three-tier plate stand each of which stood in the middle of the table with our food displayed. We had separate plates and cutlery to use for each course.
What did you enjoy the most?
The food all looked and tasted great and as we had chosen differing items we could try each others from the central tiers giving a bit more variety to the meal.
Top Tip
1. Make sure not to eat too much beforehand – there is plenty of food! We were full after the sandwiches and the scones and the staff kindly wrapped up our cakes in foil and placed them in a small white paper bag so we could bring home to eat later.
2. Booking in advance is advised as they do fill quickly inside 7 tables only, On a nicer day the garden looks lovely and gives another 7 tables outside.
3. A very nice location to come too with family and / or friends for a special occasion or just for tea and cake as all the products are lovely.

finally used our cream tea voucher originally given as a present christmas before last, but with covid etc its been postponed twice. however, we were able to extend the voucher very easily by contacting the company. everything was lovely, just as expected, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The voucher was a gift for us. I booked on line direct with the tea shop and received a prompt response. On the day we were stuck in traffic due to an accident, and therefore running late. I phoned to explain we would be delayed and it was no problem. When we did arrive we were shown to a reserved table in the window and the food was brought to us straight away. It was lovely, fresh sandwiches, crisps, scones and delicious cakes. We couldn't eat it all but were told before we started eating that a box was available to take home anything that was left, that was nice to know. While we were there music from the 40's was playing, the atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. It's a small teashop but certainly not lacking in friendliness and atmosphere. Just lovely.

Lovely hotel with panoramic views across the estuary. The afternoon tea consisted of “no nonsense” sandwiches such as Tuna, egg, ham etc nice scones with Tiptree jam and lots of cream. The cakes were fantastic lots of variety along with fresh fruit. Great service. Highly recommend.

My partner and I were bought this as a Christmas present last year (2019) we were aiming to have a weekend away and have our afternoon tea experience as part of that weekend away. Then COVID happened! So we booked to go to Beck Hall, Malham Cove - a short drive from us. We were welcomed at the door by staff who had been trying to ring us to advise us to bring wellies (the stream was flooding the bridge due to a large amount of rain over the previous few days - definitely check ahead for this as I had wet shoes!) The place was very quiet - mid week, COVID, weather etc, service very prompt, food delicious (we had trout sandwiches which we’d never had before but I’ll definitely have again!!). The views of the stream were delightful and the warmth of the room cozy. We will be definitely returning once we are allowed!!

This was the second time we had afternoon tea at Best Western Dover, and would happily go again. We made sure we booked a windows seat with view of the harbour. Food was excellent - very filling - and we asked for a take out box for the cakes we weren't able to manage, which we enjoyed eating the following day.
